About the course

You can choose to study pathways in either: • Computing, Business, Enterprise and e-Business (BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT & Business) • Software, Systems, Enterprise and e-Business (BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Software Development)   This programme, with an emphasis on enterprise and entrepreneurship, develops skills in ICT and business, offering a broad introduction to enterprise technologies, data management, software development, understanding the media, communications, computer systems, using technology to present information and web skills.   In the second year you can choose options to further develop your skills in business and business enterprise, software systems, games programming, networking and e-business. You will attend masterclasses and Q&A sessions with industry experts, visit companies and exhibitions; take part in enterprise activities and competitions and network with industry and former students about their experiences in their new careers or university studies.  

Who is the course for?

The course is for anyone seeking a nationally recognised qualification in computing. It is equivalent to three A-Levels.

What are the entry requirements?

Four GCSEs grades A*–C or equivalent Level 2 qualification together with Functional Skills in Maths and English at Level 2 and a good reference. If you do not already have qualifications in English and Maths you will need to do a short test.

How will I be assessed?

The course is assessed by means of coursework and end-of-module tests.

What qualification(s) could I achieve?

BTEC Level 3 Diploma for IT Practitioners. The Level 3 Diploma is equivalent to three A-levels.

What could I do next?

Progression to higher level study or into employment
