About the course

What will I study? As part of the International Politics option, topics include: • Approaches to global politics • World order • Global governance • European Union and regionalism • Conflict, war and terrorism • Poverty and development • Environmental issues • Human rights  

Who is the course for?

You do not need to have studied Government and Politics at GCSE in order to take an AS or A-Level course in the subject. It is more important that you should have a lively and enquiring mind, an interest in politics and current affairs, a desire to explore new ideas and an ability to communicate your ideas effectively. This course will suit you if you:
  • Enjoy debating current affairs and politics generally
  • Have a keen appreciation of the need to participate in the decision-making process
  • Like studying a subject that affects everyday lives
  • Like doing a subject that offers the opportunity to progress to a career in politics.

What are the entry requirements?

AS Government & Politics at grade D or above, the entry requirements for the AS course and a good reference.

Government and politics A2

What could I do next?

You could progress to higher education or employment.
