Duration

About the course

This course is for those who wish to sing as a solo artist, in a band or as part of a musical theatre company. It focuses on vocal performance for music and theatre; helping you develop your skills so that you can communicate musically and be creative on stage. You will gain an insight into how the industry works and how to develop the rehearsal and performance skills you will need in your career. Your vocal technique will be developed, alongside strengthening skills in stage presence and commercial dance styles. Your talents will be showcased at performances both in and outside the College and viable artists will be given the opportunity to be represented by the College’s own record label. Although the emphasis is on practical assignments, you will also study music theory, the contextual history of musical performance and how you can use it to influence new ideas.

Four GCSEs at grade C or above, including English and a Music/Performing Arts subject or an equivalent Level 2 qualification at grade Merit or above with Functional Skills Maths and English at Level 2 and a good reference.
