Financial Information

Course Fees

The fees you pay will depend on the course to which you enrol, but may include:

  • Tuition fees
  • Examination fees
  • Resources fees
  • College Identify card administration fee

Fees payable are determined by your ability to meet the criteria of a home student.

In broad terms, if you are an EEA national and have lived in the EEA for at least 3 years prior to September 1st 2010, you will meet this criteria and pay the home fees rate for your course.

If you are unsure about your fee status, please do not worry, as this is not the only way that you might be able to demonstrate that you can pay home fees. There are many ways in which you may qualify. You will receive an individual fee assessment, as well as information and advice about fees according to your own circumstances when you come to enrol.

You will be asked to provide evidence of your residency and/or nationality/ immigration status at the point of enrolment and/or when you come to your interview. You will need to bring some documents such as a passport, national ID card or immigration paperwork. You will be advised by our Course Advisors of any estimated costs you may be charged for your chosen programme of study.

Courses longer than one year

Any course fee information that you receive, which relates to a course of two, three or four years' duration, will be for the first year only. If you are applying for a course that is longer than one year then you must take into account the fact that course fees may rise over subsequent years of your course. Please bear this in mind if you have to pay fees and are applying for a course of more than one year in length. Contact Admissions and Advice for further information about course fees for subsequent years of a course.

Overseas Students

Students who do not qualify as 'home' students are classified as 'overseas' or 'international' students. The college is unable to obtain funding in respect of overseas students and as a consequence has to charge a higher international students fee. If this applies to you please ask Course Information for further details.

Payment of Fees

Course fees are payable when you come to college to complete the enrolment process. For some students there may be the possibility of paying in instalments.

Instalments

Permanent UK and EU citizens with 3 years or more residency in an appropriate EEA country may be entitled to pay by instalments where they are enrolling onto a course which lasts one year or more and their total course fees exceed £150. (Where a concessionary fee is applied instalments may be available where total course fees exceed £75).

Fees will be divided into two equal instalments with the first payable immediately at enrolment and the balance due at the beginning of your second term. Second instalments for September 2010 enrolments are due to be paid on or by 1 January 2011.

In general overseas students are expected to pay all their fees at enrolment; however, in exceptional circumstances the College may allow you to pay in instalments. Applications for overseas student instalment plans must be made to the College's International Officer before you attempt to enrol.

All students applying to pay their fees in instalments will be asked to complete a standing order or continuous credit card authority form as a condition of acceptance onto an instalment plan. Students should therefore ensure that they are in possession of their bank details or a valid credit card (not expiring before the due date of their second instalment) when they attend the college to enrol. All instalment plans will be subject to an administration fee. If after enrolment you decide to withdraw from your course for any reason other than those set out in the refunds policy on this page you will not get a refund and you must pay all unpaid instalments immediately.

What financial help is available?

We understand that there are a number of expenses that you may have that come with taking any College course. With this in mind, the College offers a wide range of help and assistance depending on your personal circumstances as well as advice and guidance on the options available to you. To find out more about student financial support and whether you may qualify or not, you can pick up a leaflet entitled "Financial Help Whilst You Study" from the Admissions and Advice teams at any College Centre. For more information based on your own individual circumstances please call 0870 060 9801 and ask to speak to our Financial Advisors.

Help with paying fees: Concessionary Fees

If you enrol onto a course at Westminster Kingsway College, you may be able to pay discounted fees if you are in receipt of a qualifying income based benefit or if you are the unwaged dependant of someone who is in receipt of an income based benefit. Concessionary fees are also available if you are studying for a Skills for Life course (reading, writing, spelling and/or maths) or if you are 60 or over enrolling on a Camden funded community course. Certain conditions will apply and you will be given advice on this when you enrol.

If you are not in receipt if an income based benefit, you may still be eligible to pay discounted fees if you are aged under 26 years old and you have not yet completed a full level three qualification, or higher or equivalent. You will be given advice on this when you enrol.

If you are entitled to a reduced fee because you are in receipt of benefit or meet one of the conditions above then you will need to bring proof of your entitlement when you enrol.

If you do not fall into any of the above categories, you will be asked to pay full course fees. These vary from course to course and you will find details of fees in this guide or from our Course Information teams.

Higher Education Fees

If you are applying for a Foundation degree or BA Hons degree at the College, it may be possible to apply for help to pay the tuition fees for these courses. With some of our Higher Education courses, you may also be able to apply for a Student Loan to help cover the costs of living expenses. For learners with childcare needs, learners living with disabilities and for learners with low incomes, additional financial help is often available. We will be able to help you with information and advice about this when you enrol as we will give you information specific to your circumstances and your choice of course. Please remember that course fees apply for the first year of your course only and any fees for subsequent years of your course will be subject to change.

Meeting the costs of learning

If you are unsure about what you need to pay or if you would like to discuss whether there is any additional financial help available to you whilst you study, please visit the Admissions and Advice Offices at any of our College centres to speak to a Course Information and Financial Advisor, or contact the Student Advice & Welfare Team.

Refunds

Westminster Kingsway College has a 'no refunds' policy. However, refunds may be considered if any of the circumstances outlined in the College's Refund Policy has been met. Contact the Admissions and Advice team at the College for a copy of the Refund Policy.
