New specification for September

AS Philosophy (AQA)
King's Cross Centre
1 year - Year 1
Level 3

What will I study?
• Epistemology, theory of knowledge
• Philosophy of Religion
Module one asks questions about the nature of knowledge; what does it mean exactly to know? Module two applies these questions to the field of religion; what can we know e.g. about the nature of God, whether or not God exists?
The course is assessed by a single, three hour examination. There is no coursework.

A2 Philosophy (AQA)
King's Cross Centre
1 year - Year 2
Level 3

What will I study?
• Ethics, moral philosophy
• Philosophy of mind
Module one asks questions about the nature of morality; what makes an action morally good or bad, right or wrong and how can we know this? Is it just a matter of opinion, or are some things (objectively) good or bad in themselves?
Module two asks questions about the nature of the mind; is it an entirely different ‘thing' from the body? What kind of ‘thing' is it? Is it a physical thing or a non-physical thing? What kind of problems stem from believing it to be one or the other?
The course is assessed by a single, three hour examination. There is no coursework.
