Short Description
This course covers a wide range of contemporary issues in hospitality and tourism management including:
• Human Resources and Organisational Development
• Finance and Revenue Management
• Business and Marketing Strategy
• Food, Society and Culture
• Dissertation
 
Important information
This course is available as a full-time or part-time programme over one or two years. This 'Top-up' programme enables you to gain a BA Honours Degree after you have completed a Foundation Degree or equivalent qualification.
  
For International students - This course can be taken as a one year 'Top-up' programme enabling International students to gain a BA Honours Degree after they have completed a Foundation Degree or HND in a related subject.

Employability
The course will enable you to develop a wide range of employability skills through the experience you will gain during the course as well as an emphasis on a vocational approach to teaching. This course will equip you with the skills to work for any part of the industry such as integrated resorts, conference centres, international hotel chains and restaurant chains, and across specialist areas such as marketing, sales, logistics, customer services, HR and conference planning.
 
Managerial roles in hospitality are challenging and rewarding. Hospitality managers need to make sure that their businesses are sustainable, profitable and provide a high quality experience for their customers and staff.
 
Recent graduates from this course have gone onto roles such as Assistant Food and Beverage Manager, HR Manager, Meetings Venue Coordinator, Events Coordinator and Graduate programmes with a number of international hotel chains. Many also start their own businesses in the sector.
 
Access Method
A variety of assessment types are used including examinations, coursework, essays, reports, group and individual projects and presentations. A number of course assessments will be based in or will relate to the workplace.
Progression
Many of our BA Honours graduates move quickly into more senior management positions within the hospitality, tourism, and other service sectors (such as retailing). Some may progress immediately onto M.Sc., M.B.A. and M.A. programmes in business and management.

Entry Requirement Entry requirements for the BA Honours Top-up Degree programmes are a Foundation Degree, HND or equivalent Level 5 qualification in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management or Tourism Management as appropriate.
