BA Degree in Hospitality and Business Management

Everyone at Westminster Kingsway College has such a passion for Hospitality and the lecturers are great. They really know about the industry and they can share their own passion for the subject. The College has really helped me to believe in myself and stay focused throughout my studies. We were asked to write down our objectives at the start of the year and I looked at them recently and had achieved everything I set out to do which was great.

This course will equip you with the skills to work for any part of the industry such as integrated resorts, airlines, tourist boards, tour operators and across specialist areas such as destination management, marketing, sales, logistics, customer services and HR.

Managerial roles in tourism are challenging and rewarding. Tourism managers need to make sure that their businesses are sustainable, profitable and provide a high quality experience for their customers and staff.

The tourism sector is the largest sector in the world's economy and is short of good quality managers. Recent graduates from this course have gone onto roles such as Business Travel Consultant, HR Manager, Sales Co-ordinator, advisors for Tourist Boards and Policy and Development institutes. Many also start their own businesses in the sector including web-based tour operations.

Access Method A variety of assessment types are used including examinations, coursework, essays, reports, group and individual projects and presentations. A number of course assessments will be based in or will relate to the workplace.
Progression
Many of our BA Honours graduates move quickly into more senior management positions within the hospitality, tourism, and other service sectors (such as retailing). Some may progress immediately onto M.Sc., M.B.A. and M.A. programmes in business and management.
