A-Level Economics, Politics and Sociology
My results were the perfect end to my time at College. I got the grades I wanted and a place at at the University of Manchester where I am studying BA Politics and Economics. I want to work in politics and have a positive impact on other people’s lives, especially in the areas of education and young people. While I was a student at Westminster Kingsway College they really encouraged me to develop my passions, helping me to successfully gain a work placement at the Houses of Parliament in Westminster and giving me the opportunity to become elected as the NUS Black Student Committee Further Education Representative. I am glad that I studied in a College that has staff who listen to student issues. When I speak to students from other colleges it is clear that Westminster Kingsway College is so much better than anywhere else.

AS & A2
Traditionally regarded as one of the most popular routes into university and employment, A-Levels form the academic pathway for a wide range of subjects, including some that you may not have studied at school. Offering you the flexibility of studying more than one subject, you have the opportunity to build a career out of the courses that you most enjoy.
AS (Advanced Subsidiary) and A-Level (Advanced) qualifications focus on traditional study skills. They normally take two years to complete full-time. A-Levels are made up of the AS level and the A2. Each part makes up 50 per cent of the overall A-Level grade. You can study the AS level as either a free standing qualification, or it can be the first half of the full A-Level. Having successfully completed your AS year, you have two options, take the AS level as the final qualification or continue to the second year and go for the full A-Level.
A-Level GCE Intensive
A limited range of subjects are also available on our intensive A-Level programme. This is a demanding programme, in which all AS and A2 units are covered in one year. All full-time students have a structured tutorial programme including regular academic review with individual action planning and support for applications to Higher Education.
The Extended Project Qualification
The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is favoured by top universities in the UK. The qualification offers you the chance to carry out in-depth research into your own area of interest. Examples of past EPQ titles include ‘Rupert Murdoch’s power in the UK’, ‘The evolution of fashion from the 20th century to the 21st Century’ and ‘Staging a play about child protection’. Final submission is by 5000 word dissertation, a performance or production of a design or artefact.
Students who join the EPQ have developed their skills in independent study in preparation for the demands of higher education. The EPQ is the equivalent of 1 AS level and can be completed in the second year of studies alongside A2s.
A-Levels: School Partnerships
In addition to the A-Level subjects available at the King’s Cross Centre, students also have the opportunity to study 1 A-Level with one of our partner schools. The A-Levels we offer through partner schools are:
- Fine Art
Further information on the school partnerships and the A-Levels available is presented at interview stage to those who express an interest in studying them. Students studying at a local school can also take additional subjects with Westminster Kingsway College.

A-Level Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Philosophy
I really appreciate all of the support I get from staff here. My tutor was always there for me and ready to answer my questions. I have achieved so much while studying here and I am so grateful to all of my tutors for giving me the help I needed to do that. They not only helped me to develop academically but they also encouraged me to grow in confidence and make the most of every opportunity. I was accepted to study Chemistry at University College London and plan to have a successful career in natural sciences. Westminster Kingsway College has really helped me on my way to achieving that goal.
