What can you
study?
We offer many opportunities to gain
vocational, professional and academic qualifications
at a range of levels, as follows:
ABTAC
Association of British Travel Agents Certificate
Access
to Higher Education (Foundation to Degree courses)
Designed to enable entry to HND, degree courses or professional
qualifications
AQA
Assessment and Qualifications Alliance. www.edexcel.org.uk
AS and
A2 (Advanced GCSE) Over two years you can gain
up to three or four full
A-levels.
AVCE
(Advanced GNVQ) These modular courses cover wide areas
of learning and may be studied alongside AS and A2 level
subjects.
BTEC Diplomas
and Certificates (Business and Technical Examination
Council) There are three levels: First, National and
Higher National. These courses are modular and concentrate
on work-related areas of study.
Edexcel
This examination board was formed from the amalgamation
of ULEAC (also known as London) and BTEC. www.edexcel.org.uk
English
Language and Modern Language courses A range
of English Language courses for students of elementary
level and above is offered by our School of Languages.
The College also offers a number of courses in other
languages.
ESF
European Social Fund.
GCE/ GCSE
(General Certificate of Secondary Education) Provides
a route to AS/A2 levels, AVCE or BTEC National Certificate
courses.
GNVQ
(General National Vocational Qualification) Offered
at two levels: Foundation and Intermediate.
HND/ HNC
(Higher National Diploma/ Certificate) Full and part-time
courses validated by BTEC (Edexcel).
IATA
International Air Transport Association.
Key Skills
(In Communication, IT and the Application of Number)
An essential part of the course for students taking
AS/ A2, AVCE and BTEC National Diploma programmes. You
will obtain a nationally recognised certificate, accepted
by UCAS for points towards university entry.
NVQ
(National Vocational Qualification) Offered at levels
1-5 and providing a work-based qualification relevant
to a specific job.
OCR
(Oxford, Cambridge and RSA) Three examination boards
merged to form this unified examination board, one of
three main providers of GCE/ GCSE qualifications. www.ocr.org.uk
WJEC
