The Childcare team at Westminster Kingsway College’s Regent’s Park Centre nursery have been recognised for their achievements with an invitation to join the Camden Register of Best Practice (RoBP) by Camden Council’s Children, Schools and Families Directorate.
The team at the College were acknowledged for their ‘skilled and effective’ delivery of Early Years provision where children are seen to thrive and flourish during their time at the nursery. The nursery offers a good quality of teaching with a strong focus on developing positive relationships supporting children’s communication, language and literacy development and personal, social and emotional development. This provides strong foundations thus enabling children to engage with a broad and balanced framework.
Anne Close from the Early Years Foundation Stage Advisory Team said: “The high standard of childcare offered by Jenny Trapp and her colleagues at Westminster Kingsway College echoes the local authority‟s vision and commitment of improving lifelong chances for all children and narrowing the gap between the advantaged and disadvantaged children. We feel they will provide an excellent role model and will be effective in advising and coaching other settings to develop children‟s language and communication skills.”
As a result of the College Childcare team’s continued commitment to Early Years provision in the local area, Camden Council has invited Westminster Kingsway College to link with the Every Child a Talker (ECAT) initiative, in line with the Early Years Curriculum. The project brings together those working in the Camden area to share understanding about how language develops from 0-5, interact with and talk to children effectively and regularly monitor how children's language is developing.
Jenny Trapp, Childcare Co-ordinator at Westminster Kingsway College, said: “We are very proud of the Childcare facilities at the College as it empowers the students and allows them to attend classes and grow in their education and career progression. Not only are the Westminster Kingsway College Childcare team proud of their Ofsted Early Years inspection reports rating the provision as „good‟ in all five areas but we are also very pleased that the Nursery at the College‟s Regent‟s Park Centre has been elected to go forward onto Camden‟s Register of Best Practice for Early Years provision.”
