‘A Chorus Line’ brings sparkle to Westminster Kingsway College
31 May 2011
Westminster Kingsway College BTEC Level 3 National Diploma Musical Theatre students performed the hit Broadway musical, ‘A Chorus Line’ at the King’s Cross Centre Theatre this week.
A Chorus Line is a musical set in Broadway in the 1970s. It is about dancers auditioning for a few precious places left in a chorus line of a new show. The power of the musical is that it provides the audience with a glimpse into the personalities of the performers and reveals the events in their lives that inspired them to seek a career on stage.
The students performed musical hits from the show including, ‘I Hope I Can Get It’, ‘I Can Do That’, ‘Sing’ and the grand finale number, ‘One’.
Xenia Bragagnini, second year BTEC National Diploma Musical Theatre student, plays the part of Michelle. Xenia, is also representing Great Britain at the International Dance Federation World Championships in Italy. She will be competing against 32 other countries in areas such as tap, fantasy, hip-hop, Merengue and Cuban.
Xenia said: “I am thrilled and very excited to be part of the Great Britain dance team. The competition lasts for five days and as the United Kingdom will be hosting the Championships next year, it is really important that we come back with a great result. I have enjoyed my time at Westminster Kingsway College, especially the fantastic people I have had an opportunity to work with. After College, I will complete my teaching qualifications so I can become a fully qualified dance teacher.”
