18 May 2012
Westminster Kingsway College Chef Lecturers, Simon Stocker and Vince Cottam, were jointly awarded The Ken Fraser MBE Memorial Award for their mentoring work with young chefs at The British Culinary Federation Awards 2012.
The Awards, which were held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, is now in its seventh year and serve to recognise the achievement and commitment of members from the education sector, chef patrons, the competition arena and supporting companies.
Westminster Kingsway College Chef Lecturers, Vince Cottam and Simon Stocker, were recognised for their mentorship of young chefs in competition work, including the National Junior British Team at The Culinary Olympics in Erfurt, Germany.
This is the first year that The Ken Fraser MBE Memorial Award has been awarded by The British Culinary Federation and is in memory of British chef and international competition judge, Ken Fraser, who passed away last year.
Simon Stocker said: “Vince Cottam and I feel honoured to be the first people awarded the Ken Fraser MBE Memorial Award. We both worked with Ken Fraser throughout our careers and knew him to be a stellar mentor, competitor and international judge. We would both like to thank The British Culinary Federation for recognising our work with young chefs.”
