05 November 2009
Westminster Kingsway College’s Food and Beverage Lecturers welcomed experts from the hospitality industry to the College to see the range of work that is undertaken with students to prepare them for working in this demanding profession.
The industry professionals were able to visit the College’s specialist front of house facilities including the wine room with bar and barista training area and chat to students and staff in the various classes taking place. This was followed by lunch in the College’s famous Vincent Rooms restaurant, where they could see the students at work.
Amongst the many top names attending the event were Food and Beverage Managers from: the RAC Club, Cafe Spice, Mosimann’s, Launceston Place, Marcus Wareing at the Berkeley Hotel, Chesterfield Hotel, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, Le Gavroche, the Wolseley and Rex Restaurant Associates. The event was also attended by Sylvano Giraldin of the Albert Roux Consultancy, one of the top professionals in the hospitality industry.
Westminster Kingsway College Food and Beverage Lecturer, Zoe Adjey said: "The aim of the event was to show Food and Beverage Professionals from the hospitality industry some of the opportunities for front of house students at the College and offering them the opportunity to get involved in future projects with the students.
At the same time, we also wanted the students to see and understand that Food and Beverage Service is a real career with very talented individuals who care passionately about their customers and the products that they serve."
