'The Dreadful Tale of Cinderella’ at Westminster Kingsway College
12 December 2010
Dance & Musical Theatre students from Westminster Kingsway College performed ‘The Dreadful Tale of Cinderella’ at the College’s own King’s Cross Centre Theatre this week.
Based on the Cinderella fairy tale, the students performed the comedic pantomime with a few unique twists including a carriage made of courgettes. The cast delivered a traditional fairy tale with audience participation and musical numbers to get everyone on their feet.
As part of their performance, the students also sang popular songs including Elvis Presley’s ‘Can’t help falling in love with you’, Adam Ant’s ‘Prince Charming’ and movie classics such as ‘Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend’ and ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’.
Lucie Neale (pictured right), second year Musical Theatre student, plays the character of Cinderella and plans to go on to performing arts school when she finishes at Westminster Kingsway College.
Lucie said: I really enjoyed performing in the pantomime today. The energy we got from the audience made the performance extra special. I love studying here, the theatre and dressing rooms are great, it really helps to learn here and I feel like I am in the best environment to grow in confidence.”
