Westminster Kingsway College Hospitality students gain vocational work experience at
The Westminster Collection’s 2009 Autumn networking event
Westminster Kingsway College’s second year BTEC National Diploma Hospitality and first year Advanced Diploma Hospitality students were given the opportunity to visit one of the most prestigious venues in London when they participated in the networking event, ‘A Night to Remember with TWC’.
The Westminster Collection (TWC), comprising a broad range of prestigious venues, hotels and hospitality facilities in central London, provided the Hospitality students from Westminster Kingsway College with vocational work experience at this event.
The networking event was held at the Royal Courts of Justice in central London and was attended by over 400 people. Westminster Kingsway College students were involved in welcoming guests to the event, managing the name badges, serving canapés and other duties.
A unique partnership exists between the Westminster Collection (TWC) and Westminster Kingsway College. The College is an Affiliate Member of TWC and through these links hospitality and culinary arts students from the College are benefiting from vocational work experience with TWC members.
Stephen Hyde, Head of Hospitality and Travel & Tourism at Westminster Kingsway College, said "The participation of Westminster Kingsway College’s Hospitality students in the 2009 Westminster Collection networking event is a great opportunity for the students to see the workings of a ‘real-life’ event and we are developing further opportunities for students to gain vocational experience during their studies before they seek employment in the hospitality and events industries."
René Dee, CEO of The Westminster Collection, said: "We are delighted to give this vocational experience to Westminster Kingsway College’s Hospitality students. We consider this to be a very important part of the corporate social responsibility role our company and its members can play, in assisting young people to gain valuable experience in the business tourism sector."
