News - Airline Training

Westminster Kingsway training day at J.A.R.E Airline Training Partnership

Westminster Kingsway Travel and Tourism students travelled to Birmingham for an airline activity day at the J.A.R.E Airline Training Partnership.

The activity training day consisted of practical exercises including rescuing passengers from a smoke filled cabin, putting out a galley fire, emergency landing procedures and how to use the catering facilities on an airline.

The students undertook the training day as part of their unit; Handling air passengers and customer care. At the end of the day the participants were awarded a certificate for successfully completing the one-day course.

Lorraine Hewett, Westminster Kingsway Curriculum Team Leader, said: "It is the first time the College has run this trip and it was a fantastic opportunity to undergo practical training away from the classroom environment."

Jennifer Schiopetto, WKC second year BTEC National Diploma Travel & Tourism student, said: "It was a great experience. The trip helped me understand the different aspects of cabin crew procedures and put into practice the theory I have learnt in the classroom."
