The Bramley Campaign
Group held the ‘New Ways With Bramley’ competition
at Vincent Square on July 9th. The three finalists were
selected from over 50 entries: Stuart Rendall from Brooklands
College in Surrey produced a mouth-watering dish, ‘Sweet
Polenta and Apple Pudding with Apple Ice Cream and Lemon
Sauce’; Daniel Hills came all the way from Glenrothes
College in Fife, and created ‘Bramley’s
Brighter Breakfast’, an interesting combination
of streaky bacon, black pudding and Bramley apples;
Westminster Kingsway College student, Jermaine Weekes
created an innovative dish, ‘Chocolate, Bramley
and Blueberry Lasagne’, made with chocolate lasagne.
The judging panel included
Willie Pike of Sodexho, Dan Bignold from Caterer and
Hotelkeeper magazine and Ian Mitchell, Chairman of the
Bramley Campaign. The first prize of £1000 (£500
for the student and £500 for their college) went
to Daniel Hills. Runner-up prizes of £250 each
went to Stuart Rendall and Jermaine Weekes. Ian Mitchell,
Chairman of the Bramley Campaign said, “The quality
of all the entries was outstanding and the panel was
particularly impressed with the high standard of presentation”.
Vincent Square
provided a great setting for the competition, with the
three students being able to take full advantage of
the superb facilities available. Well done to the students
for successfully making it to the final three, and to
Daniel Hills for winning the ‘New Ways With Bramley’
competition.
