Apprenticeships in the Healthcare sector

The Training Arm has implemented a successful Health & Social Care apprenticeship vacancies marketing campaign that resulted in over 50 apprenticeship starts with the following employers; Edenvale, Look Ahead, Vincent Care Plus and Focus Care.

NHS Central London Clinical Commissioning Group

By engaging with the NHS Central London Clinical Commissioning Group (which looks after all the GP surgeries in central London) CCCT have been selected as their provider of choice for GP surgeries looking to recruit apprentices. CCCT has started working with four GP surgeries and a few more are in the pipeline. A new area the College is looking to expand into are with doctor surgeries to deliver Health and Social Care for their Health Care Assistants.

Pharmacy Apprenticeships

CCCT is also working with 26 independent pharmacies within the boroughs of Camden, Islington and Haringey in order to recruit young local residents to start a career within the pharmaceutical industry.

European Social Funding

The Training Arm has secured a new ESF contract to work with a Prime Contractor, JGA Group to deliver the ESF Skills Development in Health and Social Care contract for the Central and South London Boroughs. The services delivered will include providing bespoke support and training for the unemployed and those economically inactive and seeking a return to the labour market but face skills related barriers to entering the health and social care sector.  CCCT will be delivering the vocationally related skills that will help to respond to changes in health and social care policy such as integrated care which impacts upon employers. The eligible candidates for this ESF project will be able to tackle their barriers to work, enter and sustain employment, and achieve a full Level 2 or 3 qualification.  The new contact is worth £390,000.

 

International

British Council Korea Vocational Teacher Training Programme

The Training Arm was successful with a recent tender to deliver a three day vocational teacher training programme in Seoul, Korea. The programme is being delivered by Westminster Kingsway College trainers this week to 44 Professors from Higher Vocational Colleges across Korea.

Skills for Employability Project in Vietnam

The Training Arm has been successful in a recent Advanced Partnership application to continue its work with Vocational institutions in Vietnam. The College will work with one existing and two new Vietnamese partner colleges on the project which explores Quality Assurance for Vocational Teacher Training and Employer Engagement. Project activity is due to commence soon with an inbound mission for partner institutions scheduled for April.

China Prosperity Project, Dissemination Events

In the coming weeks Capital City College Training will lead a series of events both in the UK and China to disseminate its UK-China Prosperity Fund Project, titled – Global Hospitality Skills for TVET. This project supports the implementation of world-class apprenticeships in China to increase UK market export opportunities for the VET sector. UK dissemination events will be hosted at Westminster Kingsway College and joined by the Secretary General of the China Cuisine Association and the Director of the Guangdong Education Department. Representatives from the Association of Colleges, British Council, Chinese Embassy in the UK and UK NARIC are also expected to attend.

Visit from Superintendent of Jeju Provincial Office of Education

A delegation from Jeju Provincial Government including the Superintendent of the Office of Education visited the Colleges on Friday 17 February. The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the Group and explore further opportunities for engagement in this self-governing island of Korea.
