Students from the Basic Skills Working in Business

Presentation
of Childcare and ESOL Certificates
On March 1st 2004, Childcare and
ESOL students celebrated the successful completion of
their courses with a presentation of certificates at
the Peel Centre, one of Westminster Kingsway College's
Neighbourhood Learning Centres. The Peel Centre offers
courses for adult learners wishing to achieve a qualification
in childcare.

student wins Channel Four Competition
On February 23rd 2004 Westminster
Kingsway College Multimedia student Caroline Nelson
attended the 4Thought Branding Competition Exhibition
and Presentation to celebrate her success at winning
the competition to design the logo for 4Thought, Channel
Four's knowledge and learning centre..

At 'Art Script Reading
On February 12th 2004 WKC students from the Theatre
Studies for the Over 60s course had their plays showcased
in front of a live audience at Hampstead Theatre. The
Young at 'Art script reading featured plays written
by students as part of the theatre studies course for
retired persons.

Phantom
of the Soap Opera
BTEC National Diploma Performing Arts students
at the Regent's Park Centre put on a great show of comedy,
drama and music in December 2003. Inspired by Andrew
Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera, Westminster Kingsway
College's Phantom of the Soap Opera was a comic murder
mystery with song and dance.

Students Visit the Victoria and Albert Museum
On November 12th 2003, Curriculum Team Leader
for ESOL Anne Fitchett took thirteen of her Entry 2
ESOL students from the Castle Lane Centre on a guided
tour of the Victoria and Albert Museum in South Kensington.
The Museum offers a specialist ESOL guide and the tours

Berlin
Wall
Thirty-three Westminster Kingsway College students visited
Berlin in October 2003 and were so enthused by what
they saw that they decided to build their own 'Berlin
Wall' in London as a record of their experiences. On
December 11th, students from the Kentish Town Centre
held an open evening between 6 and 8pm, when they were
able to add their personal graffiti to the wall which
was in the open air just outside the college entrance.

Patisserie Scholarship
Friday 20th June at Vincent Square
At the launch party
for the Professional Patisserie Scholarship, students
who will begin the course in September, spoke of their
excitement at being the first people to take the course.

A Level Results
On Thursday 14th August WKC students gathered anxiously
at the Gray’s Inn Centre to collect their AS and
A2 results. The atmosphere was tense as the packed corridor
of students scrambled to see what their future held, scanning
the notice board for their names.

and the Gulbenkian Foundation (London).
