Each applicant will receive a good practical experience of rehearsing and recording a multi camera studio production. They will have working knowledge of the crafts skills and individual roles plus the invaluable experience of working with talk back in a fully equipped TV Studio against the clock.
The course will take place in our studio in Soho.
Programme making for non-broadcast
Cost: £250 (concession £200)
Corporate production is thriving, with a highly skilled, well paid workforce. The budgets are often high and production teams have artistic freedom to deliver the project's aims. This two-day course is aimed at individuals looking to create non-broadcast video communications for charity, government or private clients. Films that are aimed at client’s internal events, external communication, PR or used for archive documentation.
The course will include theoretical and practical components resulting in students shooting a 3 minute promotional video for a specific client.
Day 1
Understanding the clients values and objectives
Providing sustainability and multi use of the final output
Analysis of client audience needs and perception
How to write a brief, scope of work and shooting script
Budget and scheduling for the non-broadcast sector
DVD distribution and promotion
Basic functionality of the Z1 camera, onboard and external microphones.
Crew roles and responsibilities
Shooting GV's, cutaways and, use of voice over
Interview skills and techniques
Day 2
Creation of a brief and shooting script in response to a hypothetical tender document
Development of interview questions and voice over script
Shooting of a 3 minute video including one main interview and two vox pops interviews.
Analysis of rushes with particular emphasis on style, technique and delivering to brief
Tutor Sian Hamlett
Sian Hamlett is a Producer/Director with over 12 years media experience working for leading production companies and advertising agencies in the UK. Sian founded Hamlett Films was in 2005 www.hamlettfilms.co.uk
Hamlett Films has a growing reputation for delivering original and effective communication for broadcast, non-broadcast and online client needs. The companies films have can take the form of documentaries, viral advertising campaigns and corporate productions. Sian has a special interest in developing creative communication and is currently working with a number of clients on convergence media productions. Recent Hamlett Films productions include: HMV (promoting the new social networking site ‘Get Closer’, EA Games (viral campaign to promote FIFA Street 2 featuring Cristiano Ronaldo). Sian continues to work as freelance director on specialist projects and is currently working with Intro Design on a series of online promotional films for the British Council, Education UK

Shooting Skills with a Z1, Z5 or EX1
Description: Practical camera course for producer/directors giving hands on tuition shooting on the HDV Z1 camera using documentary as the vehicle for learning. The course will include demonstration and 2 practical shooting exercises. Shooting in the 01zero-one TV studio and an exterior location in Soho.
Lighting for Greenscreen
Description: This course will show you a variety of Blue/Green screen lighting techniques and enable you to light a subject to fit into the background. Then you will shoot an actor against a green screen. This course is aimed at camera technicians (camera operators, fucus pullers and clapper loaders) and lighting technicians (DOP, lighting camera persons, camera and lighting trainees).
