What you will cover on this practical workshop
*The Importance of Audience Students work on fictional briefs or their own project to brainstorm multiplatform ideas. Examining potential for web episodes, character blogs, mobile services, viral marketing and user participation.
*Learn about timelines, costs and resourcing of interactive elements. Including: Server infrastructure and hosting, Software engineering development e.g.user registration, holding datasets, can people log in, save their data, upload, discuss and rate content? Client side for any web build, Flash developers for interactive experience, Video production, as per broadcast quality, for creating video assets, Live webcasting, distribution of media
*Project management Interactive has a very different production model to linear Television Broadcast production. Understanding these project management tools is essential for anyone new to Interactive Media. They can stop you from building something that doesn’t work or that audiences don’t want to use.
*User Centred Design, what it is, how it works and why we recommend you use it. How you can put the audience at the heart of the design process.
*Agile Software Development, what is iterative software development, what are the processes and tools. How to document and contract using Agile.
*Waterfall, we look at this alternative project management tool, its benefits and how it can be mapped onto Agile Processes.
Who’s it for: This course will be particularly useful for Production Managers, Producer/Directors, Production Coordinators. And anyone working in Broadcast Production who wants to understand the impact of Interactive Media on Production Schedules.

This includes line management, end to end production of interactive content, functionality and user experience for some of the most highly valued and widely used BBC online services.
