01zero-one launches new Audio Visual Industry Induction Certificate.
Monday 13th February 2006, 01zero-one, the Creative Learning Lab at Westminster Kingsway College, has become one of the first organisations in the UK to launch an Industry Awareness Induction Certificate specifically for the Audio Visual Industry.
The new Audio Visual induction scheme is being launched in conjunction with Skillset, the Sector Skills Council for the Audio Visual Industries. The scheme is aimed at people who have been employed in the audio visual industries for up to 1 year either within a small to medium sized company or as a freelancer. The four modules on the 9 day course bring together: Current and Emerging Technologies; Working Practices and Protocols in the Industry; Employment and Professional Development; and Health and Safety.
Martina Porter, Head of Skills and Innovation at 01zero-one said, “This is the first time that the audio-visual industry has come together on one qualification so it is a really exciting project for 01zero-one. The course is designed to help those people who are new to the industry and to give them the skills to move forward”.
The course is running as a pilot scheme but it is hoped that the certificate will be fully accredited by City and Guilds as a Level 2 qualification. The project has been funded by a special grant from the five London Learning and Skills Councils and the European Social Fund. The other training providers delivering the scheme are the BBC; VET and FT2; The Video College; and Richmond Adult Community College.
