Advanced Learner Loans
You could apply for an Advanced Learner Loans if you are aged 19 or over and studying an eligible Level 3 or above course, including Access to Higher Education Diplomas, Certificates or other Level 3 or above courses.

If you are aged 19 or older and studying an eligible Level 3 or above course such as Access to Higher Education, you could qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan from the UK government to pay for your tuition fees.
It is easy to apply, your household income is not taken into account and there is no credit check. If eligible you will not have to make any repayments until your income is over £25,000 a year.
In addition, if you progress from an Access to Higher Education Diploma course to complete a relevant Higher Education Degree, you could have your outstanding Advanced Learner Loan for the Access course written off so that you do not need to repay it.
To be eligible you need to be:
- Aged 19 or over at the start of your chosen course
- Resident in the UK
- Studying an eligible course at an approved College or training organisation in England – Westminster Kingsway College is an approved College

If you are offered a place at the College for an eligible course, you will be issued with an offer letter providing you with the information that you will need to make a loan application. You will need to complete an application and submit it to Student Finance England.

You can apply for a loan when you apply for your course. The Advanced Learner Loans are administered by Student Finance England (SFE). For further information and guidance on how to apply contact the Learner Experience team in any College Centre or on 020 7963 4181 or email@example.com.
The website for applications for the Advanced Learner Loans is now open. From here you can apply online and download information regarding the loans process, payments etc.
You will need to have been made an offer on a course at Westminster Kingsway College at Level 3 or higher.
You will need to contact the College and ask for a Funding and Information letter.
There is a maximum amount of loan available to you based on the type of qualification you are studying and its fee. You will be advised by the Learner Experience team of this amount. You can apply for a loan for the maximum amount to cover your tuition fees or you can pay all or part of the tuition fees yourself.
The minimum amount you can apply for is £300. You will be liable to pay the balance of fees yourself.
The Advanced Learner Loan only covers the tuition fees you are being charged by the College. However, you could apply for a Bursary to provide financial support for course related costs if you are facing financial hardship.
No. Your income and credit score is not part of the application. However, the Students Loans Company will check if you had a previous educational loan and confirm if you are eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan.
No. There is no upper age limit.
If you are not a UK national, you will need to provide evidence of your status, for example passport and documentary proof of eligibility and residency inside the UK, such as a Biometric Card. You will need to provide original documents with your applications, photocopies will not be accepted.
You will also need to provide a valid National Insurance (NI) number in order for the loan to be paid to the College on your behalf.
