About the Course

A Surveying Technician collects information from site inspections to inform and advice clients on land, property or construction.

This apprenticeship will open doors for you in a variety of roles including building surveying, quantity surveying, project management and valuation surveying.

Some of your key duties in this role will include collecting information from inspections or visits to buildings, land and construction sites, taking appropriate measurements of buildings, land or plans and meeting with other professionals, clients, customers and others to obtain and provide information relating to land, property or construction.

The Surveying Technician Apprenticeship is designed as an entry level position into surveying and will typically take 2 years to complete.

Other skills relating to 2 of the following specialisms: valuation and appraisal, building pathology, property and planning law, procurement and contracts, costing and cost planning of construction works.

What Will I Need

You will need:

  • To be aged 16 or older
  • To be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week with 20% of your normal working hours set aside for you to complete your training and study
  • 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Maths or a relevant Level 2 qualification and Functional Skills at Level 2 in English and Maths

All applicants must have an interview and assessment in English and Maths to confirm that the apprenticeship is suitable for them.

Employers may also set additional entry requirements, as a prerequisite to working with them.
