Attendance Matters

Excellent attendance at college is important so that you can reach success in achieving your qualification. You’re only at college for a short time, so make the most of it!

Your experience at CCCG will result in you obtaining a qualification and give you an advantage when it comes to progressing to higher education and employment. We want you to develop into future entrepreneurs and highly sought-after employees.

This means we have high expectations of our students, to best prepare them for the world of work or higher education, such as university. This includes not only your course content but also employability skills, work experience, as well as English and Maths.

  • Attendance
You are expected to attend classes in line with your timetable. Students should aim for 100% attendance; an employer would expect nothing less, please see our contact us page on how to register your absences
  • Punctuality
Be on time – put yourself and your peers in the best position to learn, without disruption
  • Attitude
Our students are expected to be confident, creative, work-ready, organised and resilient – these are in line with our values

What you can do to help yourself succeed

  • Establish good routines in the mornings and evenings to make sure you’re prepared for the college day ahead
  • Make sure you come to college regularly, even on the days when you find it difficult to get out of bed
  • Work hard to arrive at college on time – please do not be late
  • Go to all your lessons – you’ll probably like some more than others, but they are all on your timetable for a reason – make sure you attend all of them
  • When you’re in college, make sure you attend all of your lessons – don’t waste your time hanging around in the social areas
  • Arrange dental and medical appointments outside college hours wherever possible
  • Always let us know if you are going to be absent because of illness or personal issues – how do we track your attendance
  • Discuss any problems or difficulties you may be having at college or outside with your teachers or tutors – staff are here to help and will be supportive – student support and wellbeing
