Business Enterprise and Innovation - Level 3 Extended Diploma

This course will help you develop your skills and knowledge for studying or working in business, enterprise, marketing, finance or accounting, specialising in either marketing or finance in the second year. Emphasis is on understanding why business skills and knowledge are important, particularly in a work-related environment. You will attend master classes and Q & A sessions with industry experts, visit companies and exhibitions, take part in enterprise activities and competitions and network with industry and former students about their experiences.

Extended Diplomas have two one-year programmes. You need to finish the first year before moving on to the second.

Topics covered may include: Exploring Business a Marketing Marketing an Event Team Building in Business Digital Marketing Recording Financial Transactions

You will need:

• Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language and Maths or an equivalent Level 2 qualification at Merit (and Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 2/GCSE English Language and Maths at grade 4 or above)
• All applicants must have an interview and initial assessment to confirm that the course is suitable for them

The course is assessed throughout the year with work placement observations, in-class tests, presentations, projects, reports, essays and externally assessed exams. You will be required to pass all external exams, complete all coursework and receive positive feedback from your work placement officer to achieve your qualification.

Aged 16-18

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August prior to the start date of your course and you have the legal right to remain in the UK for the duration of your programme then your study with us will be free. Please see here for the documents you will need to show us.

Adults - Level 3

If you will be aged 19 to 23 prior to the start date of your course, and do not already have a full Level 3 qualification, you may be eligible for a Level 3 entitlement, in which case your study with us will be free. If you are older, or already have a Level 3, we have many other Level 3 courses that are also free to study. Otherwise, you will have to pay the fees yourself or apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

This course will support learners who want to progress directly to employment in job roles in business or business management and/or provide a solid platform to progress onto Higher Education degrees or apprenticeship programs.

With over 25 years of dedicated experience in teaching Business Studies, Tricia is passionate about empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs. Tricia's journey has been enriched by a deep-seated love for integrating technology into the classroom, making learning a dynamic and engaging experience.

Tricia holds a BA Honors Degree in Business from Kingston University, providing them with a strong foundation in the subject matters they teach. Additionally, they earned a Post Graduate Certificate in Education in both Further and Higher Education from the University of Sussex, enhancing their teaching expertise.

In Tricia's classroom, they strive to instill a practical understanding of Business Studies while emphasising the importance of adaptability and technological literacy in the modern business landscape. Tricia's goal is to prepare students not only for exams but also for success in their future careers.

Beyond the classroom, Tricia has worked for various companies, the most enjoyable being the Commonwealth Institute Marketing and Public Relations Department and McGraw Hill, Standard, and Poor's Platts Division. Tricia is also an entrepreneur with a track record of successfully establishing small businesses. Their ventures include Amazon FBA enterprise, Bookkeeping, Web Design, and Business consultancy, and soon-to-be a presence on Kindle Direct Publishing and Etsy platforms.  The knowledge gained has allowed them to apply real-world business principles to their teaching and provide learners with the option of setting up their online businesses.

When Tricia is not teaching or working on entrepreneurial endeavours, they enjoy exploring emerging business trends and staying up-to-date with the latest technology.

Mariyah is a dedicated and accomplished Business Management educator with a passion for shaping the minds of future business leaders. Holding a prestigious first-class degree in Business Management, Mariyah brings a profound understanding of the subject to her teaching practice.

With over five years of valuable experience in the Further Education (FE) sector, Mariyah has been a guiding force in the academic journey of countless students. Her expertise shines as she skilfully imparts knowledge and fosters critical thinking in business studies across levels 1 to 5.

Notably, Mariyah's commitment to excellence has been acknowledged within the education community. Her teaching methodology and unwavering dedication led her to be awarded by Pearson as a 2022 "BTEC Tutor of the Year," a testament to her exceptional impact on both students and peers.
