About The Course

All businesses need enterprising employees to drive their organisations forward, to have ideas and initiatives to instigate growth, and to ensure that businesses survive in this fast-changing world. People with enterprising skills can be a real asset to an organisation and these skills provide the basis for developing the entrepreneurial skills needed to run an enterprise. Enterprise is a key government focus, and is set to form an important part of the UK’s global economic status, both now and in the future.
 
This course will help you develop those skills further; you will attend master classes and Q&A sessions with industry experts, visit companies and exhibitions, take part in enterprise activities and competitions, and network with industry.

What Will I Study?

Topics covered can include:

  • Starting a small business
  • Customer services
  • Business planning and pitching
  • Finance for a new business
  • Supply chain management
  • Customer communication
  • Financial control
  • Future growth planning
  • Performance recording and analysis

What Will I Need?

You will need:

  • Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, incuding English Language and Maths
  • A reference from your previous school/college

All applicants must have an initial assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

How Will I Be Assessed?

The course is assessed throughout the year and with an end-of-course portfolio.

What Will It Cost?

School Leavers

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be free. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. Adults

If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, you may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan To cover the cost of your course. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. What Can I Do After?

This course will help you to move on to higher level courses, such as a HNC or HND, or an apprenticeship.
