This course is aimed at those looking to develop life skills as well as those who are thinking of working in childcare, covering caring for children from birth to 5 years 11 months. It is also suitable for parents who wish to develop parenting skills, mature learners with special educational needs, or those where English is an additional language. You will gain the skills and experience needed to care for a child, as well as personal development skills and knowledge about the development and growth of babies and young children. Functional Skills English will be offered alongside this course.
What Will I Study?
Topics covered can include:
the value of a healthy lifestyle and diet
communication and learning
aspects of play
the importance of building children’s confidence
human lifespan from birth to the elderly
What Will I Need?
You do not need to have any previous qualifications.
You will need:
To be aged 19 or older
All applicants must have an interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.
How Will I Be Assessed?
The course is assessed throughout the year and with an end-of-course portfolio.

Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2
