About The Course

This course allows you to study and develop skills in performing, stage presence, movement and voice skills, through various scripted and improvised performances. You will also learn about working in the industry and developing professional practices. Although the emphasis is on practical assignments, you will need to complete written assessments in the form of evaluative log books and rehearsal diaries and contextual and business studies.

You will be working on industry projects where some students will engage with external clients and companies, developing your experience in the world of work and performance.

What Will I Study?

  • Acting techniques
  • Movement skills
  • Musical theatre
  • Production arts skills
  • Performance workshops

What Will I Need?

You will need:

  • Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above in English Language and Maths, or equivalent Functional Skills
  • A reference from your previous school/college
  • A successful audition

How Will I Be Assessed?

The course is assessed throughout the year and with an end-of-course portfolio.

School Leavers

If you will be aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, it will be free. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. Adults

Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course may be free, depending on your circumstances.
