About the Course

This course provides a flexible approach to study using a range of vocational units within Health and Social Care. The qualification provides learners with the opportunity to consolidate and extend their learning in preparation for higher level vocational learning, apprenticeships or employment within the sector. The course is suitable for learners who: want to progress to/within further education or higher education in health, social care and children’s and young people’s settings; need to develop advanced learning to learn skills; are seeking to take on increased responsibilities in life and work; are seeking to enter new work areas and are looking to update and/or add to their employment skills and knowledge.

What you will study

You will study a range of units in health and social care including - : Communication in Health and Social Care, Equality and Inclusion in Social Care, Working in Health and Social Care, Basic First Aid Principles, Care Planning Skills for the Care Worker, Infection Prevention.

Access Method

At the end of this qualification you will produce a portfolio of work that is internally assessed throughout and moderated by the exam board during and at the end of the course. Assessments will consist of timed tests, response to structured questions, presentations and observations.

Progression

The qualifications provide a sound basis for learners to progress to Level 3 qualifications, including Access to Higher Education Diplomas in health and social care subjects, apprenticeships, or to enter employment.

Entry Requirement

You must be 19+ and have completed a L1 qualification in a related field and / or be able to demonstrate competency in the interview / assessment process. In addition – you must have at least a L1 qualification in Maths and English.
