BTEC Level 3 Travel & Tourism
The teaching staff are fantastic and make you work really hard to achieve your goals. I started in College with a Level 2 City & Guilds Certificate and progressed to BTEC Level 3 National Travel & Tourism. I also won the London & South East Deloitte Student Award, achievements I could not have completed without the support and encouragement from my teachers.
Vocational Diplomas (BTEC or UAL)
Learning should be fun, not daunting. In our experience, students enjoy vocational programmes because they can specialise in areas of learning linked with work that they are interested in.
You can build your confidence because you are developing practical skills that could help you secure a job in the future. Answers to assignments may be in written form but it is just as likely they will be in other forms too, such as film clips, project proposals, business plans and structured databases. You are always given clear guidelines so you know you have to achieve and how to do this. We are continually developing the Diplomas in response to the needs and skills required by employers. This ensures that you gain maximum benefit from your work while qualifying and that the qualifications stay relevant.
Each BTEC or UAL (University of the Arts London) Diploma is made up of units. The number of units you will take depends on the Level of the BTEC or UAL qualification that you choose to study. You are assessed regularly during your course, so it enables you to analyse and improve your own performance.
The College offers both Level 2 BTEC Firsts/UAL Diplomas and Level 3 BTEC Nationals/UAL Diplomas. You may have already taken a Level 2 BTEC First in school alongside your core GCSE subjects. Level 2 courses come in two sizes. The Level 2 Diploma offers core and specialist units covering the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary for employment within the sector you choose. The shorter Level 2 BTEC First Certificate is for anyone seeking initial experience of a vocational area. The Level 2 course is a good progression route for those wishing to move onto a Level 3 course.
Level 3 BTEC Nationals or UAL Diplomas are designed as specialist qualifications for those who have a clear view of their future career or want to progress to higher education. They are equivalent to A-Levels and are highly valued by universities, further education colleges and employers alike.
Level 3 BTEC Nationals or UAL Diplomas are suitable for students aged 16 upwards and are recommended for those who have achieved at least four grade C or above GCSEs or have completed a Level 2 BTEC First/UAL Level 2 Diploma.
Diploma Level 3 Music Production
As a Music Production student, our equipment is very important and the facilities at the King’s Cross Centre are amazing, especially the speakers and digital mixer in the main recording studio. It is great to be surrounded by industry standard equipment. Highlights of the year included performing with my fellow student, Lil Simz, at the Camden Roundhouse and the BBC Radio 1 Hackney Weekend, which was amazing. I got a great buzz even though it was a bit daunting performing in front of such huge crowd! I was also awarded a student award for my grades so I was very proud of that achievement too.
Diploma Level 3 Fashion
I have thoroughly enjoyed the different range of projects that we covered while at College, from digital technology to screen printing by hand. I am now studying FdA Footwear Design at the London College of Fashion. The course gave me the confidence to pursue my career goals and I am going to miss the great teaching and learning environment we had at the King’s Cross Centre.
