Creative Mayor's Academy - Routes into the Creative Screen Industries - Electrician (Spark)

Want to work as an electrician on a Film or TV set? Gain the basic skills and knowledge about the role as a Spark in the broadcast/film, theatre, festivals, shows and exhibition industries. You will gain knowledge and know how from a professional Spark and electrician and be ready for your next step. You will learn: - the role of a Spark in the creative industries - the basics of electrical systems and principles - health and safety - working with temporary power - lighting skills - communication - job search, applications and freelance opportunities - preparation for work, employment and freelancing This course is part of our 'Routes Into...' and will support you with preparing to find work in the industry. It will provide a clear route for your next steps in to an exciting career in the creative sector.

This unit explores the art and craft of motion picture camera operations. An understanding of the design, operation and control of a range of cameras will be achieved; together with the skills required to fulfil the various roles within the camera department.

Please be prepared to provide your residency documents such as a passport, EU citizen ID card, UK Birth Certificate or Biometric Card. If you have been in the UK for less than 3 years or have entered the UK with a visa you will need to provide evidence that you are eligible to study in the UK - your visa, your biometric card that covers the duration of your course or any relevant home office documents to support your residency should all be uploaded. If you’re an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen we will need to see evidence of 'Pre-Settled' or 'Settled-status' documents. Also for funding purposes we would need to see evidence of payslips if working (within the last 3 months). If you are receiving benefits (e.g JSA, ESA, Universal Credit (UC), Housing benefits etc. please bring evidence of this).

Upon successful completion of the course you can progress into further study in this area.
