About the Course

This programme includes qualifications related to the Security Officer job roles including CV writing and Interview Skills. You will gain the Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry and Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work which are needed to apply for your SIA Licence.   

To enhance your knowledge for these roles, you will also complete the Level 1 Award in Employability Skills and the Level 2 Certificates in Understanding Behaviour that Challenges and Mental Health First Aid and Advocacy in the Workplace.

During the programme you will meet the employers and on completion you will have a guaranteed interview and gain your SIA licence which allows you to work in the security industry.

What Will I Study?

Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry: 

  • Principles of Working in the Private Security Industry including the recent ACT Awareness counter-terrorism legislation
  • Principles of Working as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry
  • Application of Conflict Management in the Private Security Industry
  • Physical Intervention in the Private Security Industry

Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work: 

The qualification covers knowledge such as the roles and responsibilities of the first aider and how to assess an incident. The qualification also covers first aid skills in CPR and use of an AED, providing first aid to a casualty who is choking and dealing with external bleeding and hypovolaemic shock.

Level 2 Understanding Behaviour that Challenges:

  • Understanding behaviour that challenges
  • How to support positive behaviour
  • Understanding the importance of effective communication
  • The management of behaviour that challenges
  • Understanding the role of reflection and support for those involved in incidents of behaviour that challenge

Level 2 Mental Health First Aid and Advocacy in the Workplace: 

  • Exploring mental health
  • Understanding how to support individuals with mental health
  • Understand a mentally healthy environment

What Will I Need?

This course is for unemployed people aged 19 + who are in receipt of state benefits, including UC, JSA and IS or those on an income of less than £21,547.50 who are available for the full training programme.

 

You will need to have a minimum Level 1 literacy and good verbal communication and listening skills. All applicants must have an assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them and that they have the right ID and background to gain their SIA licence.

 

You need to have lived in the UK for five years and proof of where you have lived in this time and have a current passport. 

Assessment

Enrolment:

To get a place on the course you will take an English and Maths assessment and your residency and ID documents will be checked to make sure you are eligible.

You will be invited to an assessment session at our Victoria Centre to complete the English and Maths assessment and enrolment form. 

These take place on a Tuesday or Thursday. 

You also will be invited to the Screening day when you will submit your ID documentation and five year work history.

 

During the course:

The HABC Level 2 Door Supervisor’s Award is assessed through 3 practical assessments and four externally assessed multiple choice tests and the completion of a written assessment and two question and answer sessions.  The practical elements will be filmed.

The Level 3 First Aid at Work Award has a practical assessment and a short multiple-choice questionnaire.

The Level 1 Employability Award is assessed through 4 written assignments and one practical assessment.

The Level 2 Mental Health First Aid and Understanding Behaviour that Challenges certificates are assessed through completion of written assignments on an e-portfolio (paper based is also available).

What Can I Do After?

On completion of all the qualifications we will help you apply for your SIA licence.

You will then have a guaranteed interview with our associated employers.
