How to apply? – Step by step guide
1 Find out more information
Before you apply you will need to decide what you want to study. You can find the latest information about all of our courses on this website. If you want to meet one of our friendly and fully trained advisers from the Course Information and Financial Advisers Team (CIFA Team), call us on 0870 060 9800 and make an appointment. We offer a free, impartial advice service to help you decide which options will suit you best for your future.
2 Apply for your course
If you apply late in the academic year, you are less likely to be offered a place on your chosen course and may need to consider alternatives. We can help you with this. However, to get the best opportunity of your first choice of course, please apply as early as possible.
These are the main ways that you can apply for course at the College:
- Apply online – for some courses you will be able to apply online via this website. To apply online, please find your chosen course on this website and click on the apply online button above your course to apply. So that your application can be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure that you complete all sections of the form. If you are uncertain about the information that is required, or you need some help with filling in the form, please contact Admissions & Advice on 0870 060 9800. We will be happy to help you.
- Complete an application form – for some courses you will need to complete an application form which can be downloaded here or you can request an application form by telephoning 0870 060 9800. You can send your completed application form by post to the College address on the top of the form or deliver it by hand to any College centre. So that your application can be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure that you complete all sections of the form. If you are uncertain about the information that is required, or you need some help with filling in the form, please contact Admissions & Advice on 0870 060 9800. We will be happy to help you. If you have a visual impairment, we can send you a text version of the application form which allows you to enlarge it to suit your requirements.
- Enrol in person at a College Centre – for some courses (such as ESOL), you will be able to enrol for these courses directly at a College centre during the College’s enrolment period. To find out if you are able to do this then please contact us on 0870 060 9800. You will need to telephone Admissions & Advice on 0870 060 9800 to find out when and where your course enrolment is taking place.
3 Receive confirmation/Interview dates
If you have applied early to the College either online or with an application form then the College will write to you to confirm that we have received your application. If you have not received this within two weeks after your application then call 0870 060 9800 to track your application. If you are eligible to join your chosen course you will also receive a letter inviting you to attend an interview at a certain time and date. Please ensure that you attend your interview. It is really important to attend your interview to ensure that you get an offer of a place on your chosen course. It is not always possible to arrange alternative dates or times. If you really cannot attend the appointment you have been given call 0870 060 9800 for more advice.
4 Receive confirmation of your offer
If you are successful at interview you will be offered a place at the College subject to evidence of your exam results, receipt of a good reference and any other relevant entry criteria. Once you have received an offer you should confirm acceptance of this offer in writing, by returning the freepost card given to you at interview.
