Westking alumnus and “Saturday Kitchen favourite” makes teaching announcement on television

Thursday 10 May 2018

Chef and former Westminster Kingsway College student, Freddie Forster, was a guest on Saturday Kitchen last week and announced the fantastic news that he’ll be returning to Westking to teach on a part-time basis from next year.

He told guest presenter Donal Skehan: “Westminster Kingsway College – where I went many years ago – has been a great servant to me, I learnt a lot there as a chef. One thing I want to do is go back to the college and teach the first year students on a part-time basis because I think it’s important to give back to the new generation coming through and if I can go back there and add a little bit of my expertise, I think it’ll be a wonderful thing.”

He delighted his fellow guests by cooking for them a West African dish of seam bream cooked in a scotch bonnet and tomato sauce encased in a banana leaf, served with an okra and plantain salad.

Freddie dedicated the dish to his grandmother, who cooked it for him and his cousins when they were in Sierra Leone. He also mentioned he is developing a book to showcase West African food in all its glory.

Freddie – we look forward to having you in the kitchen and copies of your book in the library next year!
