Westking doing more to get women careers in technology

Thursday 22 February 2018

Westking celebrated women in technology today, by holding a special conference aimed at empowering and encouraging our female students to have a career in the tech industry.

With a panel comprised of women working in prestigious tech companies such as Google, Microsoft, Cisco and Blue Zoo, our students were treated to a discussion about the opportunities and pathways available to women who want to work in the broad technology industry.

All of our esteemed guests delivered words of wisdom to our audience of students who studied a range of subjects, from animation, business and psychology to STEM subjects.

Debbie Forster MBE, CEO of Tech Talent gave an impassioned speech, saying: “There has never been a better time for women to get into tech. They want you.”

Following a panel discussion, students broke into smaller groups to have a more in depth discussion with our guests to ask any questions and better understand the pathways available for them to get into an industry that is still predominantly made up of men.

A big thank you to our speakers, and Wendy Breakell, Carlo Liu and Christine Boahene, who organised the event.
