In instances where a live session is not possible or appropriate, work will be set for students to complete via online platforms. All your teachers have reviewed their schemes of work and assessment plans for online delivery
Students are expected to attend lessons remotely following their timetable; registers will be completed and attendance and work completion will be monitored using our usual college processes.
All students should complete work set, submit assignments and homework, complete all mock tests and receive feedback. All assessments will carry on as usual and your teachers will inform students of any adaptations or delays in assessments.
All of our students are expected to meet their learning agreements and most importantly to attend all their online sessions and engage with learning by completing their work and assignments, homework and assessments.
When teachers are concerned about non-attendance or low work completion, they will contact students and – where appropriate – parents or employers. We shall use our usual support processes to ensure that students do not fall behind.
Students studying courses that require specialist equipment or facilities (eg sports practicals, science and engineering practicals, catering practicals, performing arts practicals, etc.) will have their learning and assessments revised to suit remote learning, as the practical sessions cannot take place in the usual manner.
Alternative arrangements will be made to enable students to undertake remote activities or focus on theory with the view of a more blended learning approach once the lockdown is eased. Formal assessments will be done in line with awarding body guidelines.
Students who do not have a suitable device to access their lessons can get or borrow a device from the college to access their online lessons and complete their work and assignments. The college can also provide assistance with internet connections and access.
Some of our centres will be open for students who do not have a suitable place to learn. We will continue to reach out to all our students without devices, internet connectively or a suitable learning environment.
We are aware that circumstances keep changing and we urge all our students to contact us through their teachers if they have problems with their devices, internet or suitable learning environments.
For students with special education needs and disabilities (SEND), a variety of measures are in place to provide appropriate support based on the learners’ individual needs. Students will continue to receive regular support from teachers and support staff. A small number of students will continue to receive on site provision, where this is the most appropriate way to support their learning needs.
Our student services are still open for all our learners. Please feel free to contact the relevant services (additional learning support, careers, counselling, mentoring, mental health support, finances, etc) if you need support. Either speak to your teacher or find contact information here
